With its sixth Icebreaker festival, which will explore the music from the Mediterranean region, the SCP takes on the ambitious goal of breaking the ice in many ways: between the West and the East; between Europe, Asia and Africa; between the more academic concert music and both folk and traditional  musics; between the diverse and inspirational cultures within the Mediterranean region; and between the region’s deep and ancient history and its colorful present. Icebreaker VI: The Mediterranean will mark a significant step in bridging the beautiful musical landscape of some of the world’s oldest cultures and that of some of its newest, in the United States.
